Open Question: Can you please help me with names. Thank you?

My husband and I are expecting our first child. We are new to Canada and Canadian culture etc. Being originally from the Netherlands. So many of the terms used on this site are very confusing to me, and I am not exactly sure what they mean. One of the things that I am most confused by is when someone says a name is "trendy". I don't know what that means exactly. For instance Desiree and Aislinn are trendy, but I don't know what exactly people mean when they say that?. Could you explain please?
